I just wanted to tell you how awesome this Saturday was. The contest ran on schedule, awards were quick and easy to follow, and the judges critiques are AMAZING! I wish every contest would do critiques this way—we got high quality feedback, and instead of hearing the same thing three times in a row, we got thoughtful ideas and critiques that we can apply as we move forward. I’m sure it also keeps the judges a little more engaged, because they’re able to watch a little more and collaborate with each other while watching dances all day long. As the leader of my program, I was in search of a camp atmosphere which incorporated integrity, accountability, and grit. Ascension Dance offered these qualities at their LEAD SUMMIT and more. The staff members and Debbie could always be seen greeting the Directors and campers throughout the day. I truly appreciated the attention to detail when Director feedback was given. As a Director, I was able to focus on coaching my students to prepare for the year instead of coaching them to excel in a single evaluation. My leadership team was able to make friends with other officer lines because we were able to truly learn and grow as a community.
